As much as technicolour photos look fab, especially since smartphones now have even better cameras than the previous generation of mobiles, even good enough to rival a digital camera, there is always a certain charm about black and white photos. Maybe because a black and white photo will leave out any imperfections or minor flaws, instead adding them to make it a better photo.
Take this one by Hugh Lippe’s , taken a photo of Naty Chabanenko for Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2011 ad campaign. It might be because of the masquerade type mask which adds some mystery, or the fact that its a fancy mask make entirely of pearls which makes it the more decadent. Still, great use of composition, lighting, hair, accessory and pose.
